Moon Rocks and Some Other Things

I doodled a little doodle of an astronaut being really excited about a moon rock, while an alien at his lunar lander in the background.  It made me laugh, so I decided to flesh it out.  It's the little things in life, am I right?

"Houston, look - a Moon Rock!"
Here's the original doodle.

Fun Fact - I drew this guy a really stupid head in the final drawing.  He looked like a ten year old. So I drew him a new one, and with a little Photoshop surgery, problem solved!  I gave him a new arm while I was at it.

See - ten year old.
And the new head. Ta da!
A little more adult. Just a little.

In other news, I recently did a fun little Q&A with the wonderful people over at Sixpoint Brewery about my piece for their Beer is Culture competition and art in general.  You can read it here.

And you can still vote on on the piece by 'liking' the image on Facebook here. Voting ends on May 7.  Every vote counts!

That's all I got for now.  Cheers!

Evil Wizard

I snagged this shape from the awesome Cup O' Doodle, a site where they put up abstract shapes and artists create drawings on top of them.  I wanted to try it out myself and can say it's a good time.  Really forces you to think outside the box and start from places you wouldn't normally.

Here's what I drew.

And here's the drawing with the original doodle overlaid.

Deja Vu

This guy was standing next to me for a while in a store in Brooklyn this weekend. Then I saw him again yesterday in a subway station in Manhattan. Weird! A city of over 8 million people and I see the same stranger twice in totally unrelated places.

Cheers to you, two time stranger.

Summer Fun with Nosferatu

He enjoys a burger and beer between bouts of wreaking terror upon mortals.  But don't forget the sunscreen.

Here's the original sketch, before pressing the magic color button.

Dino Party!

The terrible lizards are known for carousing late into the night.

Sketch 'Splosion!

A whole bunch of silly sketches from the past couple weeks. Enjoy!

And last but not least, Toby Zeigler! The West Wing is on Netflix and I'm hooked.

Crayon Monsters

I was playing around with drawing on an iPad.  It's a bit awkward to get used to, but doing these simple crayon style drawings was pretty fun.

Warthogs and a Yak

Just a couple pigs of the plains and their long haired, plateau dwelling bovine pal - in all of their colorful glory.

Werewolf

I was absentmindedly doodling a wolf and was reminded of a Ghostbusters toy I had as a kid.  It was a sweet werewolf that would howl when you squeezed his legs.  And I think he was a mailman.  So I drew that from memory

Then, with the magic of the internet, I found a picture of the toy online.

Pretty close, right?!  I added a tie clip on mine.
I can't for the life of me, however, remember why there was a werewolf in Ghostbusters.

And it's on!

The Chocolate Chips and Rocket Ships Kickstarter has launched!  Check it out here.  You can see the poem I illustrated as well as the intro video, which has some animations by yours truly.  There are some really awesome artists involved in this project and you can see some of their contributions in the preview.  There's going to be a new poem and illustration unveiled everyday, so keep an eye on it.

And here's an unrelated doodle.
